Although the different elements are under fully automatic control, it is possible to intervene manually: by pressing a button, you can tell the system whether your preference is for a sporty driving experience or a distinctly comfort-oriented one. With sports mode selected, the system not only adjusts the firmness of the damping, but also sharpens the accelerator response. Assuming, of course, that you are in the mood for it.
